(Boise, ID) ? Idaho Steelheads head coach Derek Laxdal announced that explosive forward Mark Derlago has agreed to terms for the 2009-2010 season. Derlago (pronounced dur-LAY-go) finished in the ECHL?s top-ten in scoring, despite playing in just 49 games as he split the season between the Bakersfield Condors and AHL?s Manitoba Moose. He put up 77 points (32 goals, 45 assists) during the regular season for the Condors, adding nine points (6 goals, 3 assists) in seven playoff games. Over the past two seasons, only two ECHL players have more points than Derlago?s 141: South Carolina?s Trevor Morin and Florida?s Kevin Baker. ?Mark is a natural goal-scorer, he finds the net wherever he plays,? Laxdal said. ?He?s a left-winger by trade, but he can play the right side, too. That makes him very valuable.? He has played nine career games against Idaho, scoring five goals in those contests. The 23-year-old Derlago, a native of Brandon, Manitoba, has played two seasons in the ECHL, both with the Condors. During that time, he has been named both the ECHL?s Player of the Week and Player of the Month for his on-ice performance. He also played in the 2009 ECHL All Star Game in Reading, PA. Derlago?s uncle, Bill, scored 416 points in 555 career games in an NHL career that spanned from 1978 to 1987. The elder Derlago was a teammate of Laxdal?s with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1985. Season-ticket packages for the 2009-2010 season are available now, starting as low as $450 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season ticket packages are available for as little as $150.
