Madarieta awarded "Big Hit of the Week"

Boise linebacker Levi Madarieta received the af2/NiFTy ?Hit of the Week? on Tuesday in recognition of his big hit on Central Valley?s Lamonte Jones Saturday night. In the first half of Boise?s 67-48 victory, Terrence Sanders spun Jones around after a short catch. Before Jones could regain his balance, he was driven hard to the Qwest Arena turf by Madarieta (Weiser, ID/Brigham Young). Madarieta finished the night with five tackles and an interception, earning him a nomination for the af2 Defensive Player of the Week award as well (Amarillo DB Gerard Lewis received the award). He?s third on the team in tackles for the season (33.5) and tied for the team lead with six interceptions. The Burn plays at Tri-Cities Saturday night. The game will be carried live by KGEM radio (1140 AM) in the Treasure Valley and it can be watched live online via NiFTy-TV at www.boiseburn.com. Boise (8-2) returns home on June 20 to face the Stockton Lightning at Qwest Arena. It will be the second ?4-for-$44? promotion of the season as fans can purchase four game tickets, four Pepsis, and four hot dogs for just $44, plus ticketing fees. Call the Qwest Arena box office for more information on the 4-for-$44 promotion at 208.331.TIXS.
