The Stockton Lightning were looking for their second upset in as many weeks and looked primed to do so early on. The Lightning jumped to an early 17-0 lead in front of home crowd of 3,091. On the second play from scrimmage, Chad Cavender found Troy McBroom for a 31 yard score and the early 7-0 lead. Stockton would intercept Taylor Tharp twice in the first quarter turning the two turnovers in to 10 points and the early 17-0 lead. Boise would respond on t he longest offensive play in team history. Tharp went deep to Jomo Wilson (Russell Athletic player of the Game) who scored on a 49 yard strike to put Boise on the board. The Burn would outscore Stockton 21-13 in the second quarter. Flowers had a pair of TD (24, 6) and Wilson struck again this time from 40 yards out to get Boise to within 3 at 30-27 going into the break. The 3rd quarter got off to a bang for Boise. Terrance Sanders returned the opening kick off 56 yards for the score (his 3rd of the season) opening the flood gates for the visitors. On the ensuing kick off Tanyon Bissell recovered a fumble and Damian Walker turned it into a 1 yd TD run. Then on defense Ernie James forced and recovered a fumble taking it 12 yards for the TD giving Boise a 17 point lead at 47-30. Wilson?s 3rd TD of the game capped off the 26 point 3rd quarter. The Lightning outscored the Burn 14-6 in the final quarter but the damage had already been done. Boise improves to 6-1 all time (4-0 in Stockton) with their 59-44 victory. Boise (5-2) returns home a week from tonight to host the Amarillo Dusters at Qwest Arena. Kick off is at 7:00pm (MT) Note: in the win Terrance Sanders recorded his 5th TD of the season. Offensively Nichiren Flowers scored 2 TD bringing his season total to 20 (18 rec, 1 rush, 1 FR). Flowers had 20 TD in 2008. at 6-2 the Burn are off to their best start ever.
