Boise, ID: The Boise Burn got the crowd going early but it was the Spokane Shock that did the silencing at the end as the league?s top team improves to 3-0 with the 63-45 victory, spoiling the home opener for the fans. Boise got on the board first. Taylor Tharp, making his first professional career start threw a 14 yard strike to Nichiren Flowers capping off a 45 yard drive for the early 7-0 lead. Spokane would answer with a 45 yard drive of their own. Nick Davila connected with Charles Dillon for a 26 yard score tying the game at 7, then it was the Davila to Dillon connection again this time from 8 yards giving the Shock the lead 14-7. Spokane outscored the Burn 22-17 in the second quarter. Patrick Bugg (Russell Athletic ffensive Player of the Game) and Dillon scored on back to back 45 yard TD passes stretching the lead to 18. The Burn would cut the lead to 4 following a Tharp 2 yard TD run and a Tharp to Flowers 9 yard score but the Shock found the end zone with 4 seconds left in the half when Davila pass to Bugg was deflected off the wall and into the hands of the second year receiver. The second half was a back and forth battle. Following a Brian Jackson field goal on the opening possession of the 3rd quarter, Casey Allen?s 8 yard TD cut the lead to 8 but it was as close as Boise would get. The teams would exchange scores. Damian Walker scored his first TD of the season from 2 yards out and Patrick Bugg scored on a screen pass giving the Shock 46-38 after 3. Jerard Rabb had the highlight of the night in the 4th quarter. A one handed leaping catch into the stands got the crowd fired up but it wasn?t enough, as the Shock outscored Boise 17-7 in the final frame for the 63-45 win. With the win the Shock improves to 3-0 on the season while the Boise fall tom 2-1 The Burn travel to Fresno for a match up with the Central Valley Coyotes next Saturday night at 8:00pm (MT) and return to Qwest Arena on Saturday May 2nd for the Pink on the Turf game against the Stockton Lightning.
