A Boise Burn secondary that has recorded 9 interceptions and allowed 42 points per game (4th best in league) got even better today as the team announced they have signed af2 veteran defensive back Nygel Rogers. Rogers (6?1, 210-Appalachian State) comes to Boise after spending the past 2 seasons in Spokane. During his 2 years with the Shock, Rogers racked up 152.5 tackles, 10 interceptions and 27 pass break ups. In 4 games against the Burn from 2007-08, Rogers was a menace to the Burn offense, recording 18 tackles and 3 interceptions. 2 of those interceptions came in the same game on June 23rd, 2007 and both were returned for touchdowns in the Shock?s 60-28 victory in Spokane. Following the 2008 season, Rogers signed a contract with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League but was released from his contract last month and now is excited to get back to playing arena football in Boise. ?It?s going to be an exciting time. I am looking forward to playing for Coach Winter and the Boise Burn. They are 3-1 and have a very good team and I am happy to be a part of this organization. I am looking forward to playing with guys like Terrance (Sanders), Jomo (Wilson) and Nichiren (Flowers), guys that I have played against the past couple of years. It is always a great to get an opportunity to play and play on a veteran team.? Nygel Rogers is expected to make his Boise Burn debut Saturday night at Qwest Arena. NOTE: Linebacker Fred Amano was placed on team suspension and has left the team to pursue other job opportunities.
