The Idaho Steelheads (43-23-4) knocked off the Phoenix RoadRunners (29-36-5) for the second night in a row by a 6-3 score. Phoenix shot out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Mark O?Leary and David Rutherford. However, the outcome of the Trevor Ludwig-Mark O?Leary fight may have sparked the Steelheads, who countered with a pair of goals to tie the game heading into the second. Before the period closed, the Steelheads would tie the game after goals from Bryan McGregor and Darrell Hay that were less than a minute apart. For McGregor, the goal was his 32nd, and for Hay, his 7th. The lone tally of the second period came courtesy of McGregor again, as he kept clicking offensively on what has developed into a seven-game point streak. The Steelheads put forth an offensive onslaught into the third period with three more goals. Marty Flichel scored on a 5-on-3 seventeen seconds into the third period to give the Steelheads a 4-2 lead. Bryan McGregor completed his hat trick for his 34th goal of the year at 1:51 of the third, and Tyler Shelast completed the scoring for the Steelheads less than seven minutes into the period. P.J. Corsi tacked on the last goal for the RoadRunners to make it 6-3 midway through the third, but it was too little, too late. For McGregor, his hat trick and two assists gives him a Steelheads season-high for points. Rejean Beauchemin earned the win for Idaho, stopping 23 of 26 for the Steelheads; he is now 16-11-3. Chris Beckford-Tseu steered aside 50 of a Steelheads season-high 56 shots on net.
