The Idaho Steelheads (26-16-3) never gained a lead in tonight?s 3-1 loss at home against the Phoenix RoadRunners (21-22-3). The Steelheads returned home tonight for the first game at Qwest Arena since January 14 and played to a crowd of 4,579. Mark Bomersback scored the only Steelheads goal of the evening to tie the game at 1-1 in the second period. Bomersback skated up the right wing, used a Phoenix defenseman as a screen, and beat Kyle Jones for his 14th goal of the season. Merit Waldrop scored the first two goals of the evening for Phoenix; the second of which was the eventual game-winner. John McNabb added insurance in the third period to make the game 3-1 in favor of the RoadRunners. Kimbi Daniels registered a pair of assists tonight for Phoenix. Matt Climie suffered the loss in net for Idaho, as his record falls to 16-9-1. He stopped 33 Phoenix shots. Kyle Jones improved his record to 2-9-1 with the win; he steered aside 25 of 26 Idaho shots. The Steelheads are back in action on Saturday night, February 14th, for the second game of this two-game set with Phoenix. The puck drops at 7:10 in downtown Boise.
