Leading up to the opening of training camp, boiseburn.com will give you a closer look at the position-by-position breakdown of players who have been signed by the Burn and are expected to attend camp. Other players may be added at each position before the season opens March 28 at Tri-Cities. Preseason Position Analysis: Linebackers Signed**: 5 Returning: Levi Madarieta, Zach Tune New: Joe Lemma, Fred Amano, Marcus Lawrence Levi Madarieta: From nearby Weiser, ID, Madarieta is one of just two players to appear in every game in Burn history and is the franchise?s all-time leader in tackles (82). He finished 2008 with 51.5 tackles, two sacks, and three interceptions. He also forced (and recovered) two fumbles. Madarieta was an all-state football player at Weiser High before playing college football at Washington and Brigham Young. Zach Tune: Appeared in ten games for the Burn in 2008, collecting 18.5 tackles. Also had two sacks, getting one in each of Boise?s first two games. In the opener at Tulsa, along with a sack, Tune made six solo tackles. He began his collegiate career at the University of Utah before finishing at Montana-Western. Joe Lemma: Made 31 consecutive starts at defensive end for Oregon State and played in three bowl games for the Beavers (2003, 2004, 2006). He finished his career with 67 total tackles and 7 sacks. Fred Amano: Played both offensive and defensive line during his collegiate career at Southeast Missouri State and San Diego State, but will compete for playing time as a linebacker for the Burn. He was named San Diego State?s scout team player of the year in 2005 after transferring. Marcus Lawrence: Played two years at South Carolina of the SEC, totaling 156 tackles. He was also a junior-college All-American at Butler (KS) Community College in 2002. He spent part of 2005 on the practice squad for the NFL?s New York Giants and also went to training camp with the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings. **: Player signed as of February 12
