Boise Inks Another Former Bronco

Two years after scoring the game tying touchdown in Boise State?s miracle win against the University Oklahoma Sooners in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, Jerard Rabb will play football in front of the Boise fans once again. Today the Boise Burn has announced that the former Bronco has been assigned to the Burn by the arenafootball2 league offices. In two years as a wide receiver at Boise State, Rabb (6-2, 201) caught 75 balls for 1,158 yards and 9 TD?s. His most memorable trip to paydirt came in front of a nationally televised audience back on Jan. 1, 2007. With the Broncos down 35-28 in the final seconds of regulation, Rabb took a pitch from Drisan James on a Hook and ladder play called on 4th and 18, and raced down the sidelines diving for the end zone with seven seconds left to play in regulation. The Broncos went on to upset the Sooners in overtime 43-42 thanks to the most famous Statue of Liberty play ever called on the two-point conversion to end the game.Prior to his return to Boise, Rabb (6-2, 201) spent the past two years trying to make an NFL squad. Following the Fiesta Bowl victory, the former Bronco signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys and was released following the pre-season. Rabb stayed in the NFC and signed a contract with the San Francisco 49er?s in December of 2007, where he spent the rest of the season on the 49er?s practice squad. Rabb resigned with San Francisco in 2008 but was released following the 2008 pre-season. Rabb, who currently lives in Boise, says he?s excited about the opportunity to play in Boise, this time as a professional. ?I think it will be a great experience for me and hopefully for the Boise Burn fans. I?m excited to kick the year off and hopefully help the Burn win a championship. Playing in front of the Boise fans is a great experience. They are loud and I hope they love to watch me play. I am looking forward to this great experience? Boise opens the 2009 campaign on Friday, March 27 at Tri-Cities. The Burn will host its West Division rival and defending National Conference Champion Spokane Shock for its home opener on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Qwest Arena. Season tickets are currently on sale.
