Steelheads make it two-in-a-row against California opponents

Fresno, CA - After a victory Saturday night against the Stockton Thunder, the Steelheads (9-7-2) made it two-in-a-row tonight with a 3-2 win over the Fresno Falcons (11-5-1). Matt Stephenson, Marty Flichel, and Mark Bomersback each picked up two-point games in the victory.All the scoring in the first period came in the last six minutes of the frame, when Kyle Hagel opened the scoring with 5:08 to go. Hagel was able to put his stick on a Jerramie Domish point shot to earn the goal; Spencer Carbery also picked up an assist on the goal. Carbery scored 18 seconds later to extend the Fresno lead to 2-0, with assists going to Hagel and Dustin Sproat. At 18:24, Bryan McGregor put the Steelheads on the board with a wrister from the high slot; Mark Bomersback and Marty Flichel picked up the assists on McGregor?s goal. The second period was all Steelheads. Early in the period, Craig Cescon lit a spark under the Steelheads in a fight with Fresno?s Judd Blackwater. At 6:04 Mark Bomersback netted his second, with assists going to Marty Flichel and Matt Stephenson. Stephenson picked up his second point of the period, and the go-ahead goal for the Steelheads, at 11:50 of the second period on the power play; the assists went to Kory Scoran and Brent Shepheard on Stephenson?s goal. Matt Climie was perfect in net in the second period for Idaho, turning aside all 13 Fresno shots he faced. The score after 40 minutes: 3-2, in favor of the Steelheads. The third period yielded no scoring, as both goalies were perfect. Climie stopped all 10 Fresno shots in the final frame en route to a 3-2 Idaho win. With the victory, Climie improved to 5-4-0 on the year, while Michael Ouzas fell to 4-3-1 with the loss. Both teams finished the contest with 31 shots on goal.
