The Idaho Steelheads hosted the Victoria Salmon Kings in a preseason game Friday night at McCall?s Manchester Ice and Events Centre, and lost 4-2.The Salmon Kings opened the scoring late in the first period on a goal by Jordan Foote, and extended the lead to 2-0 on Darryl Lloyd?s marker at :26 of the second. Idaho got on the board as defenseman Kory Scoran lit the lamp at 3:16. Idaho drew even at the 9:40 mark when rookie left winger Kris Sparre scored his first in an Idaho uniform. Victoria scored the ultimate game-winner when Matt Kelly beat Idaho goaltender Rejean Beauchemin at 11:45. Victoria?s Shaun Landolt added an empty net goal to close the scoring.Beauchemin stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced, while Victoria?s Jonathan Boutin turned aside 34 of Idaho?s 36 shots on goal. The Steelheads finished the game 0-for-5 on the power play, while Victoria was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.The Steelheads open their season at home on Saturday, Oct. 18.
