Steelheads Announce First Player Agreement for the 2008-09 Campaign

The Idaho Steelheads, proud affiliate of the NHL?s Dallas Stars, today announced they?ve come to terms on a one-year agreement with Kyle Radke, a senior out of the University of North Dakota.Radke is a 6-0, 215-pound defenseman, who had the opportunity to suit up for four Frozen Four championship runs during his NCAA career. The 23-year-old Alberta native was known for his physicality on the ice and led the Fighting Sioux in penalties (49) and penalty minutes (109) his junior year. He finished his collegiate career with 7 goals, 20 assists and 284 penalty minutes in 136 games played.?Kyle is a smooth skater and solid ?d-man,?? said Idaho Steelheads Head Coach Derek Laxdal. He added, ?He?s got a physical toughness that will bode well in our league and we?re excited to get him as Kyle was highly recruited amongst other ECHL teams.? Prior to joining UND, Radke spent the 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons with the Grande Prairie Storm of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) where he received several honors, including Rookie of the Year in 2001-02, Top Defenseman in 2003-04 and 2003-04, and the league?s Top Defenseman in 2003-04.Radke is the first player to be announced by the Idaho Steelheads for the upcoming season.
