Courtesy: IdahoSportsZone.comBoise Burn receiver George Williams inched closer to a pair of significant af2 all-time records and both could be reached during the team's current 3-game homestand. Williams had 3 touchdowns in Saturday night's 74-28 rout of the Tri-Cities Fever, moving him closer to the league's all-time marks for touchdown receptions (167) and scoring (1020). Magic Benton holds both marks. Williams sits at 159 touchdown catches and 980 career points, 8 touchdowns and 40 points short of tying the career records. "It's good to be number one," Williams said after Saturday's win. "And I'll be there." He has a chance to reach those marks at home. The Burn has two consecutive home games (April 26 and May 3) and, if Williams has big games, he could set both all-time marks in front of the hometown fans. "That's what I like to do," he said with a smile. "Let it rain, clear it out, and score touchdowns." Williams scored 4 touchdowns against the Burn last year as a member of the Rio Grande Valley Dorados in a game played in Boise. He led af2 with 46 touchdowns in 2007. Some compare the high-scoring receiver to fictional movie character Crash Davis from "Bull Durham," who was approaching the career record for minor-league home runs, a distinction he felt was a dubious honor. Williams doesn't share the character's sentiment of an all-time mark for a minor league. "I understand the comment," he conceded. "But I'm happy to be in the position, it's a great honor."
