John Lammers and John Snowden each scored twice, while Andrew Martin picked up two points and Kellen Briggs stopped 34 shots for his second shutout helping the Steelheads drop the RoadRunners 6-0 in front of a sold out crowd of 5,359 fans at Qwest Arena on Saturday.The win snaps the Steelheads (28-16-8) three-game winless streak and helps them earn three points from the three-game series with the RoadRunners (18-27-6). The 11-game season series also came to an end with the Steelheads going 7-3-1.The Steelheads took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission when J.S. Adam scored with 53 seconds left in the opening period, marking his first professional goal. Taking Snowden?s pass, Adam fired a slap shot from the top of the right circle that beat David McKee (38 saves) short side.Midway through the second period John Lammers netted a goal for the sixth straight game, extending his scoring streak to nine games in the process, as he buried his 14th of the season at 11:16. Taking Mike Sullivan?s drop pass, Lammers blistered a shot just under the crossbar to make it 2-0. Kory Scoran, who had missed the previous seven games due to injury, also picked up a helper.Just over four minutes later Snowden skated out from the left wing wall and beat McKee from the high slot for a power play goal, his fourth of the campaign. Jeremy Scherlinck got the lone assist.Martin made it 4-0 before the two teams headed to the dressing room, following up his own opportunity to pot his first goal with the Steelheads and his sixth overall. Taggart Desmet, who led the rush into the offensive end, set up the even-strength tally.Through two periods the Steelheads led in shots 29-27.The rout continued in the third period with Snowden tallying his second of the evening at 5:12 and Lammers collecting his second of the game just over a minute later. Martin and Taggart Desmet got the assists on Snowden?s even-strength marker, while Marty Flichel set up Lammers 15th of the campaign. The final shots favored the Steelheads 44-34, as the home team registered 44 shots for the second straight evening. There were 130 combined penalty minutes and 12 total power plays in the affair, with the Steelheads going one-for-six on the man advantage.The Steelheads head on the road now for a four-game, six-day swing beginning on Monday, February 18 against the Utah Grizzlies.
