BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the ECHL, have announced the schedule for their 25th season in the Treasure Valley. The 2022-23 season will begin on the road on October 21 against the Iowa Heartlanders with Home Opening Weekend starting on October 28 against the Utah Grizzlies at Idaho Central Arena.The full schedule can be found and downloaded by clicking here.The Steelheads and the ECHL will see more in-division games this year, moving to 61 of 72 total games against foes from the Mountain Division compared to 55 games during the 2021-22 campaign. Out of the divisional games, the Steelheads will see the Utah Grizzlies and Rapid City Rush the most with a combined 32 games with most of those meetings coming in the first half of the season. The other 29 divisional games will be split between the Allen Americans, Kansas City Mavericks, Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder mainly through the second half of the year. Four of their 10 total opponents for the season will come outside the division with two resulting in first-time meetings and at least one team from each of the other three divisions.All home games will begin at 7:10 p.m. at Idaho Central Arena with all games on either Wednesday, Friday or Saturday. The Steelheads will play 10 home games on Wednesday nights with 14 Friday night contests and 12 Saturday night games. Last year, the Steelheads won 25 of their 36 home games, which is tied for the most in team history, and sold out 26 of their 36 games at Idaho Central Arena.The Steelheads open the season with their first trip to the state of Iowa in team history to open the franchise series against one of two ECHL expansion teams last year, the Iowa Heartlanders, for a two-game weekend on October 21 & 22. The Steelheads then open a five-game homestand with Opening Weekend on October 28 & 29 against the reigning Mountain Division Champion Utah Grizzlies to open an 18-game season series. In the back half of that homestand, the Steelheads play six-straight of their 14-game series against the Rapid City Rush finished off by another three games against Utah.Thanksgiving Week begins another five-game homestand that opens with three of their eight games against the Allen Americans from November 23-26 and two more against the Grizzlies before trekking to Massachusetts for the first road meetings head-to-head with the Worcester Railers, who the Steelheads hosted for three games last year, on December 9-11. Another five-game homestand leads the Steelheads into the holidays with 10 of 13 games at Idaho Central Arena.

Coming out of the holiday break, the Steelheads begin a six-game road trip, tied for the longest of the seasonwith the front half in Utah and the back half starting another seven-game season set against the Wichita Thunder, which opens the 2023 calendar year on January 4-7. The Steelheads split their next two weekends against Utah and Rapid City before their lone home series against the Thunder from January 25-28 followed by all six games against the Tulsa Oilers to kick off February beginning on February 3 with a road series then coming back to Boise from February 8-11.The team’s lone two-city road trip starts in Wichita on February 15 followed by two of eight games on the year against the Kansas City Mavericks the ensuing Friday and Saturday. The Steelheads then face-off against the Maine Mariners for the first time in team history with a three-game series at Idaho Central Arena from February 22-25. After three more games in Kansas City to start the month of March, the Steelheads once again host a five-game homestand starting on March 10 with two more home contests against Allen followed by their final non-divisional weekend of the year against the Orlando Solar Bears from March 15-18.The Steelheads close the year with seven of 12 games on the road starting in Allen for three games on March 22-25 then their final homestand of the year against Kansas City for three games starting on March 29 and the final two home games on Wednesday, Apr. 5 and Friday, Apr. 7 against Utah. The Steelheads travel to Utah for the Saturday game and close the regular season on April 12-15 in Rapid City.
